Microblading FAQs
-
We start off every service with a topical anesthetic cream to help take the edge off. After the service starts, a secondary numbing will be applied throughout to ensure you remain comfortable. For the most part, clients experience little to no discomfort. However, everyone’s pain thresholds are different and there are a lot of factors that can influence this. For example, hormones/menstrual cycles may make you more sensitive.
-
There are many factors that can determine how quickly your brows fade (sun exposure, exfoliation, physical activity, skin type, genetics, etc). Many of our clients do not end up needing an annual touch-up for 18 months, or even longer! Your brows should be AT LEAST 50-60% lighter to be considered for an annual touch-up, especially for those that desire microblading strokes over shading/powder brows.
Remember that permanent makeup is considered “low maintenance” not necessarily “no maintenance”. As time goes on and your brows begin to fade more and more, it is perfectly normal to need a little brow makeup.
If you are unsure if your brows are ready for a touch-up, feel free to email a picture of your makeup-free brows to bladedbyashley@gmail.com or schedule a microblading consultation so we can take a look!
-
For most, yes. After your initial session, you will notice your new brows will likely fade quite a bit, which is completely normal. Many clients experience some scabbing/flaking in the first few weeks after the initial appointment. As these scabs/flakes begin to slough off, you will notice your brows will be super light. As the skin begins to heal underneath, some of the color will begin to resurface, but not all of the color. Because we are working the shallower layers of the skin, layering pigment is needed to reinforce the color.
Touch ups are also great for making slight adjustments to the shape and color.
Annual touch-ups (if your brows are ready) are needed to keep your brows looking fresh! For many clients, their brows will last 1-3 years before an annual touch-up is needed.
-
If you have had your brows done before by another microblading/pmu artist, please send a makeup-free photo of your brows to bladedbyashley@gmail.com or schedule a microblading consultation to determine next steps.
If your brows have too much pigment in the skin, you can try exfoliating your brows a few times a week to help speed up the fading process. In some cases, the pigment may be too deep in the skin and may require some form of removal before you are ready for new brows.
-
For initial sessions and annual touch-ups, expect to spend roughly 2 hours at the studio. For any touch-up under a year, expect 1-1.5 hours. However, the time can vary.
-
As much as we wish it was, unfortunately not all clients are a good candidate for microblading. The following conditions can have serious risks associated with receiving this service.
Epilepsy, Chemotherapy, Pregnant/Breast Feeding, Heart Problems, Viral Infections, Uncontrolled Diabetes, Autoimmune Diseases, Allergy to Lidocain/Epinephrine/Tetracaine, Used Accutane in the past year or any skin conditions affecting the eyebrow/eye area.
Your health and safety is of our utmost concern. If you have any questions about your eligibility for microblading please contact us at bladedbyashley@gmail.com prior to booking.
-
Your brows may be slightly irritated or seem warmer in color. The numbing agents used during the service help to prevent your brows from being overly red or swollen. Of course, everyone’s body is different, so results may vary. Your brows may seem a bit darker and thicker for the first couple of days, but will fade down over the healing process.
-
Absolutely! Inspiration pictures never hurt because your version of something may look different than what our version is. Pictures are a great way to make sure we are on the same page! When looking for pictures online, try and find pictures that may have similar natural brows to what you have naturally.
lashline enhancement FAQs
-
Just like we do with Microblading, we start off every service with a topical anesthetic cream to help take the edge off. After the service starts, a secondary numbing will be applied throughout to ensure you remain comfortable. Many clients state that it feels more odd having someone that close to their eye, than it is painful.
Keep in mind, the eye area is typically more sensitive in nature than the brow area, however, we will continue to apply numbing agents to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible.
-
Not always! The eye area does not have as much cell turnover as other areas of the body. This means that your lashline enhancement will likely stick around better than some other forms of permanent makeup. However, keep in mind that everyone is different and some people break down pigment differently than others.
Most clients only come back for a minor touch up if there is an area that faded enough to bother them or they wish to go darker in color.
-
If you have had a lashline enhancement by another permanent makeup artist, please send a makeup-free picture to bladedbyashley@gmail.com, capturing as much detail as possible (we know the eye area can be hard to capture in a picture) to determine next steps.
Or schedule a Microblading Consultation to stop in so we can take a look.

This appointment usually lasts around 1.5-2 hours. Time can vary from client to client.

Client cannot currently have eyelash extensions on during the service or for a few weeks following
-
It is completely normal for your lashline to be slightly irritated or even a little swollen for a day or two. You can use a small ice pack to help alleviate some of the swelling, just be sure not to put too much pressure on your eye area.
-
At this time, we only offer lashline enhancements. This is not a full eyeliner and does not include a wing. The lashline enhancement goes right at the base of your lashes and is used to enhance and frame your eye. It can be seen when your eyes are open, but is not noticeable when your eyes are closed.
lASH LIFT FAQs
-
We understand a lot of our clients come in after work or during lunch hour. Most makeup can be easily taken off, however please avoid waterproof mascara and other eye makeup for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. Waterproof mascara, particularly, can leave a residue behind on the lashes that may affect the lash lift.
-
Lash lifts usually last for at least 4 weeks and sometimes up to 8 weeks. To ensure we keep the integrity of your lashes, please schedule your lash lifts with AT LEAST 6 weeks in between appointments, although 8 weeks is preferred.
-
YES! Your lashes cannot get wet for a full 24 hours after the service. This includes humidity, heat and heavy sweating. Not waiting the full 24 hours may affect the results or longevity of your lash lift.
-
Although we can try, lashes typically need to be at least 4mm in length to achieve a successful lash lift.
-
Lash lifts typically take about 1 hour. If also tinting your lashes, up to 1 hour 15 min.
-
Yes! Although it is preferred that you remove your contacts prior to your service to avoid discomfort.
brow lamination FAQs
-
Unfortunately, no. During a brow lamination, a chemical solution is placed directly on the brows and skin which can absorb into the bloodstream, making this a service to skip if you are pregnant or breast feeding!
Also, during pregnancy and breast feeding, your hormones are at higher levels than usual, which can result in hightened sensitivity to the chemical solutions.

-
Laminations can be done in an array of different ways. You can leave the studio with super fluffy brows, or you can leave with a more structured brow. When in doubt, bring pictures! Just keep in mind, the brow lamination does not permanently alter your hair. It makes your hair “movable”. So even if you do not particularly like the style of brow you left the studio with, after you are able to wash your brows (after the 24 hours) you can reposition your brows to fit the look you are going for!
-
Brow laminations can vary depending on the state of your brows coming in. A rough estimate would be 45 min, and 1 hour if tinting.
